Musical Instrument Library
You can now borrow musical instruments from the library, just like you would a book!
Falkirk and Grangemouth libraries are home to our musical instrument library, but you can request for an instrument to be sent to any branch in the area for collection.
At the moment we have only acoustic guitars and ukuleles available for borrowing, but more instruments will be added soon.
Conditions of borrowing
Instruments are loaned for 8 weeks and must be returned on or before the date stamped on the instrument label. If you want to borrow the same instrument again, you first need to return it to the library.
We expect you to return any instruments in the same condition as you borrowed them. You will be billed if an instrument is lost or damaged. Don't worry, we won't charge you for a broken string on lost plectrum!
Getting started with your instrument
If you are just starting out, or trying again after a long gap, we would recommend looking at https://tinderboxcollective.org/music-resources/ for loads of videos about your chosen instrument. There's videos about to tune and hold your instrument and simple songs to get you started.
If you're interested in ukulele, Camelon's Ukey Hooky meets every tuesday evening. They have tutorials for beginners on their website and welcome players of all abilities. Find out more at ukeyhooky.co.uk
Donate an instrument
If you have an instrument that is in good condition, that you’d love to see well used by adults and children across the Falkirk area, please let us know.
Drop an email to libraryevents@falkirk.gov.uk to let us know what you would like to donate, and we’ll let you know how to get it to us.
