Falkirk's Libraries are here to help you get growing!

🌱 Visit our first seed library

Seed libraries are at Falkirk, Grangemouth and Larbert Library. Help yourself to seeds or donate leftover packets or seeds you've harvestd yourself. You'll find our seed cabinet armed with envelopes and pens for you to label your seeds. You might also find free pots and seedlings or cuttings to take away.

🗣️ Join a library gardening club

You'll find gardening clubs at Larbert, Meadowbank (Polmont) and Slamannan Libraries. We have a cuppa, chat about our gardens (or houseplants) and sometimes even do a bit of planting! All levels of experience and ability are welcome. Our friendly members are happy to offer advice to folk just getting started on their gardening journey.

📖 Borrow from our huge range of gardening books

Our libraries have books on just about any aspect of gardening you can think of - whether you're growing on your veranda or you've got a huge space to fill.

🎒 Borrow a Gardening bag

Are you new to gardening? Have you always wanted to try growing food from scratch but don't where to start?

Falkirk Libraries now have gardening packs available to borrow to help you create fresh meals from plant pot to plate.

What do the gardening packs contain?

Hand tools, gardening books and kneeling mat in a gardening bag, as well as seeds, plant markers and growing advice cards. There's even recipe cards so you can start cooking with what you grow!

How to I borrow a pack?

Any member over the age of 16 can borrow a pack for 8 weeks. There is no charge to borrow, all we ask is that you clean the tools before you hand back the packs.

You may renew the loan once, but after that time it should be returned so someone else can benefit from the tools.

About this project

With the cost of living crisis, we wanted to help everyone have access to affordable, organic produce by showing them how to grow sustainably in their own space, no matter the size. We want to make the journey from produce to plate easier, to help address environmental issues such as sustainability, carbon food print and emissions.

The Gardening Packs have been provided with funding from The Europe Challenge and SLIC, and in partnership with FDAMH and Sustainable Thinking Scotland.
